This year’s Waterfront Blues Festival will mark ecoShuttle’s 5th year sponsoring the event (http://www.waterfrontbluesfest.com/).  The company is sponsoring headliner Maceo Parker (http://maceoparker.com/), which means someone from the company will get to introduce his set!  Maceo started out playing with James Brown, and then he played with George Clinton’s Mothership.  After that collaboration, he teamed up with another former Parliament member, Bootsy Collins in his group, Bootsy’s Rubber Band.  We’re excited to see this guy!

Some other folks we are excited to see include Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk (http://www.dumpstaphunk.com/).  You may know Ivan Neville as a member of the famous Neville Brothers.  Ivan’s dad is the renowned singer Aaron Neville, so he comes from one of the most important musical families from New Orleans, and he brings the funk!

Obviously I’m super pumped up to see some real blues legends that I’m sure the festival was keen to bring in like Buddy Guy (http://www.buddyguy.net/), a six-time Grammy-winning blues legend.  And how about Robert Cray and his Robert Cray Band (http://www.robertcray.com/)?!  If you’re into the blues and you’re reading this blog, your head is probably exploding right now, ka-boom!

Of course, in between sets, you’ll find me stuffing my face with the delicious food offerings the Blues Fest has to offer.  Last year I had some incredible African food, and some delicious sandwiches that were on Dave’s Killer Bread (I actually watched Dave unload his killer bread from the truck!) (http://www.daveskillerbread.com/).  Needless to say, this year’s Blues Fest is going to be a great time, so bring some canned food and some cash and come kick it by the Willamette!
