Greetings blog readers!

I hope this week finds you well.  Now, folks keep asking me about what’s going down on Memorial Day, so I’m going to lay out some great activities going on this weekend.

First off, we have the Rose Festival Fireworks taking place Friday night at 10pm to kick off the Rose Festival.  There is also the Rose Festival City Fair, complete with live musical acts, barbecue competitions, and some carnival rides that don’t really look all that safe…

If you’re into music, there is some fantastic music going on this weekend.  In the Gorge, the Sasquatch Music Festival is taking place with some stellar bands such as the Flaming Lips, Wilco, and one of my new favorite bands, Twin Shadow.

Death Cab for Cutie is playing at the Les Schwab Amphitheatre on 5/27, and the Decemberists will be playing there on 5/29.

No Memorial Day would be complete without some adult beverages, and Oregon Wine Country will have its doors wide open!  Cooper Mt. Vineyards will be offering their delicious organic wines just 20 minutes west of Portland (www.coopermountainwine.com).  Duck Pond in Dundee will be offering tastings from $5 to $10 from 10am to 5pm, with a BBQ from 1 to 4pm Saturday and Sunday (www.duckpondcellars.com).  The Sokol Blosser family will be hosting guests at Sokol Blosser Winery in Dayton from 10am to 4pm, tasting fee is $15 (www.sokolblosser.com).

If you’re looking for something to drink with some carbonation, there are plenty of phenomenal brewpubs and bars that offer plentiful outside accommodations.  In the SE, Hedgehouse is dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and sun-friendly, when the sun is around, that is (http://www.newoldlompoc.com/hedgehousehome.html).  McMenamin’s Kennedy School has a nice bit of outdoor seating for you while you down your Terminator Stout in the courtyard (http://www.mcmenamins.com/427-kennedy-school-home).  Amnesia Brewing on N. Beech St. is one of my personal favorites, they have great beer and affordable food options.  Well, I tried to link their website but I don’t think there is one, so here’s a link to a review instead!             With this fine list of things to do, and if the weather cooperates, you will have no reason to sit inside this weekend.  Get out there!

  1. Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this site.

It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s
challenging to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appeal.
I must say you have done a excellent job with this. In addition,
the blog loads extremely fast for me on Firefox. Excellent Blog!

  2. Hello there! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering if
you knew where I could find a captcha plugin for my
comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having problems finding one?
    Thanks a lot!

  3. Oh my goodness! Impressive article dude! Thank you so much, However
