This year’s Waterfront Blues Festival will mark ecoShuttle’s 5th year sponsoring the event (http://www.waterfrontbluesfest.com/). The company is sponsoring headliner Maceo Parker (http://maceoparker.com/), which means someone from the company will get to introduce his set! Maceo started out playing with James Brown, and then he played with George Clinton’s Mothership. Any time I see a body of water, I have an interest in swimming in it. With summer around the corner, I get even more excited about splashing around somewhere. Since I’ve lived in Portland I have known one truth; it isn’t safe to swim in the Willamette River. Each day I cross the river and get angry that it looks disgusting, and that no one who is sane is able to swim in it (I’m not sure what those Red Bull Flugtag people are thinking when they go flying into that water). So for this week’s blog, I’m going to take a brief look at the Willamette and the effort to make it swimmable.
